What is the meaning of a fifty pence piece interference in a bottle cork?
I recently enjoyed a bottle of champagne with my other half for holding the test results. As we were drinking, his grandmother cut a wedge into the wedge of cork and a 50 pence piece on it. She said it would be to remember the bottle we had for our results. Never heard of this tradition before, and wondered what the significance of which is. Can someone enlighten me? Thank you.
