Need a quick way to defrost frozen food for dinner tonight? You can get rock hard fillets ready for the party? If you been watching cable television, you probably think that their problems are over thanks to the miracle Thaw.
Dubbed as a "revolutionary thawing tray makes hob and microwave thawing obsolete, "Miracle Thaw promises to quickly thaw frozen foods, fruits and vegetables in question minutes without electricity, chemicals or batteries.
The secret, we are told, is the product space "old metal" that absorbs natural heat energy in the air and releases it directly to the frozen food. Supposedly this speeds up the thawing and melting any food as magic in minutes. The television advertisement says that the food's natural juices are retained for best flavor.
"This miracle of incredible cuisine can $$$!" be yours for only TV announcer shouted the occult. To not miss a miracle, I bought my Miracle Thaw less than half the price in a stores. I was looking for something for my wife and a "revolutionary" defrosting tray seemed a good idea at the time.
But There was nothing revolutionary about the product. And the only miracle that occurred was my money vanishes into thin air. How did this happen?
In First, the ads do not say to preheat the tray under the hot water run for 20 to 30 seconds. You're supposed to do this twice: before thaw food and half the defrosting time. That explains the miracle. The tray is actually absorb heat from the air, heat gets hot!
To test the device, my wife got a couple of pork ribs in the tray with the hope of seeing them "fresh butcher block in 14 to 18 minutes" as the brochure accompanies promised. Alas, 45 minutes later, they were still frozen. At that point it was clear that he had wasted money on a topic of conversation.
I was not alone in being disappointed with Miracle Thaw. The tests performed by Consumer Reports about this particular product and other aluminum alloy plates as the melting of Instant and D-Frost Wonder Deluxe all taught to be a waste of money.
"I never went to Miracle Thaw said thawing times despite following instructions to the letter. Quarter-pound hamburgers (10 to 14 minutes claimed) took us 24 to 34 minutes. Shell Steaks (19 to 22 minutes) we took 32 to 36 minutes. The other trays were even slower, even when pretreated. A heavy aluminum pan unheated foods as good thawed and quickly. Defrosting in the microwave oven was by far the best, "said the editors of Consumer Reports.
"Advertisements for thawing trays claim that frozen foods can be thawed quickly at room temperature. Some ads claim the trays are made of a special "superconducting" metal that speeds the natural thawing process. However, most are simple aluminum trays, and the same effect accelerated melting can be accomplished with any metal pan. In fact, the times of thawing of these trays often are exaggerated in advertising, "added U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
But worst of all, these products may even increase the risk of food poisoning. This was revealed by the FTC, which said leave to thaw frozen food trays to melt is an ideal way of cultivation of deadly bacteria.
