Making a cake and frost layers before frosting?
I never made a pie before and I'll make a birthday cake two layers using a nine-inch round today. I think I heard you can freeze the layers before frosting so the cake does not damaged, has tried this before? Thank you.
Yes, it works very well. Make sure meringue is very sweet, because the cake is frozen quickly. I recommend taking the melting layer 2 or 3 minutes, then begins to freeze. Cake prevents tearing and get all crumbly. I work in a bakery where decorate cakes all the time and this is my preferred method. After the cake after the ice melts, it can never know the difference. Then, if you want to have a very soft peak. Dip the spatula in hot water and wipe it lightly take on the ice. You are not required but is a little technical Nice presentation.
