Why is it a sin to drink when Jesus turned water into wine and the wine seemed so essential?
I'm confused about why not allowed to drink in some Christian traditions. There was the wedding at Cana where Jesus turned water into wine for the celebration to continue, wine was used for food purposes, in many cases …… why is it a sin or not allowed? Namaste! Sorry about the extra "the" before Jesus …. write away ……. I meant to write 'very' fast …. Wow, you'd think I'd had some wine ….. .. not a bad idea, but I prefer a beer
Some Christian denominations do not allow drinking for a variety of reasons … I personally think it is just one way to avoid the question "How much is too much?" There is no biblical basis to prohibit the consumption of alcohol … There is a scripture that prohibits a tendency to drunkenness. It is a phrase that drives many pious believers to give up alcohol altogether. And you're right … Jesus turned water into wine at a wedding party to continue. If you read the whole story, people will wonder why the best wine was saved … This is because usually better-tasting wine is served at the beginning of the wedding, save the least desirable that came after everyone was drunk enough not to worry about converting. Another explanation little fun and some use is that "wine in the Bible was alcoholic, but the process to remove the alcohol in wine was not established, however, and the method to make wine was much as it is now, so that one does not wash with me.
